Option 3
Attend a Post-Secondary School
(Community College, College/University, Vocational School or Military Academy)
If you know you want to go to college but are unsure of what you want to do as a career, possibly look at attending a community college or vocational school first because it will cost less money as you try to figure out what career you want. Contacting businesses and organizations to set up a job shadow is a great way to get exposure to a potential career to see whether you like or do not like it before you decide whether to pursue it.
You want to choose a branch that best fits you. Research the branches and contact/speak with recruiters to see which one will fit you best.
The military is also a helpful tool to assist you in paying for post-secondary school.
Once you know what career field you would like to pursue, research schools you would like to attend that provide the school/training that you need for your specific career. Make sure the school you attend is accredited.
Find out what the school's admission requirements are and follow them. Apply as soon as possible, schools have deadlines and may have a maximum capacity requirement.
